I am a happily married Christian woman blessed with seven children who are all currently healthy, but that wasn’t always the case. In 2016 our son Isaac was diagnosed with a form of cancer called acute myeloid leukemia at age 11 and given a mere 20% chance of survival, which brought us on a lengthy journey that tested both our faith and our marriage. I’ve written a manuscript for a book, but in order to get it published, I needed a “platform,” according to the publishers. This blog is my attempt to reach out to a broad audience with topics including inspirational stories of faith and tips to keep a marriage intact amidst tremendous stress. It is my sincere desire to bless others with the wisdom and experiences that God has taught us along the way as we clung to Jesus (and still do!).
People often ask me:
- How did you manage a large family and the emotions during a full year of medical upheaval?
- How are your teenagers so happy and well-adjusted without anxieties?
- How is it that your marriage is so happy (“you guys act like you’re newlyweds in love”), after 25 years of marriage?
- How is it that your children all follow the Lord despite attending public school?
- How do you keep your house in order when you have seven children…what is your system?
- How do you afford to send your kids to college debt-free?
- What are some of your parenting tips to have well-behaved children?
- How do you handle electronics with your children to keep them safe while on the Internet and create boundaries for usage?
In this blog, Faithfully Embracing Home, I endeavor to address all of these questions and include a few other fun tips as well. Please consider signing up to be part of the email distribution list of this blog, which will help me in my goal to build a platform to publish my book, Against All Odds. Please stay tuned as I write about the various topics over time.
